This 1952 mg-td is altogether a different class of english sports car. These mg-td roadsters were special cars for many americans in the early fifties. They were an affordable way to really enjoy the open road. Detroit had nothing like it. This td has had a full professional restoration by the current owner and it is top-shelf. All chrome is exceptional. The working gauges are jaegar (speedo/tach) and lucas - again, the gauges work. There is a like-new black top with side curtains for comfort. The rebuilt (2017) matching numbers 1250cc ohv 4-cylinder purrs sweetly and is backed by a factory 4-speed manual transmission. (owner is also including a hand crank.) steering is rack/pinion with independent coil spring front suspension and solid axle/leaf springs in the rear. Brakes are hydraulic 4-wheel drum and us versions had 12v positive-ground electrics. Starting in 1950, the mg-td was equipped with steel wheels and hubcaps. (wire wheels look great, but can be maintenance nightmare.) the wheels on this roadster mount nexen 165x80x15 radials.

It looks particularly nice because this MG has been treated to a high quality restoration that not only professionally applied the color, but also made sure all the panels fit nicely. That means all the iconic touches are correct – from the upright grille, to the long flowing fenders, to the rear-mounted spare tire. Inside the motto should be, No radio. These MGs are a great lesson in purist motoring. Still, being a minimalist does not mean lacking in style. It's an overhead valve unit with twin SU carburetors. Just like the legs on a little dog, the MG's engine has a peppy attitude that's happiest when it's kicking just about as fast as it can. The light body weight, modern Firestone tires, and independent front suspension all contribute to this sporting attitude. They prove that this MG TD is a quality, and cut-above classic from every angle.
