Ford knew that not all people who bought a compact were willing to miss out on premium features. For those who desire style and comfort with their lightweight cars, there was the 1964 ford falcon futura convertible. No longer just the car that fathered the mustang, the sensible style has matured into an instantly recognizable profile. In fact, these second-generation falcons seemed to strike a nice balance between american flair and european sensibilities, and the vintage burgundy paint represents this perfectly. After all, the deeper hue has the attractiveness of red, but a more sophisticated tone that makes this drop top look more refined. With the flick of a switch the power convertible top opens this falcon to the world. Bucket seats with a center console are what we all want in a classic '60s machine, and these look like there has been all the right care and investment over the years. That's why the ribbed texture is crisp, and it's complete, right down to the insignia trim. In fact, speaking of trim, just like the exterior, the bright trim is plentiful and tasteful. The inline-six motor has the kind of honest appearance that people love at car shows these days. The bold color on the block, valve cover, and air topper radiate nicely from within the dark engine bay. And this one looks correct, right down to the fomoco coolant retention bag. Bucket Seats

As we all know, the original 1964â½ mustang was based almost entirely on the ford falcon. Many of the interior, chassis, suspension, and drivetrain components came directly from futura/sprint bins. This handsome 1964 sprint convertible has been fully restored. It is considered to be a gen2 falcon with more modern styling and more performance options than the earlier version. The solid body was reshot with dodge red-line paint in 2013 - a professional job that has been very well maintained. All of the chrome trim is nice and period-correct 14 magnum 500 spoke wheels hold bfgoodrich radial t/a tires. The interior was fully restored with seats and door panels refinished in black vinyl. Windows are tinted and the original am radio sits in the dash. That said, there is also a am/fm stereo upgrade tucked neatly away in the glove box. A black vinyl convertible top is in excellent condition. The replacement 289ci engine was totally rebuilt in 2013. It retains a ford intake and holley 4-barrel. The motor sounds great though a dual exhaust setup and torque is delivered to a ford 8 differential via a 4-speed manual with hurst comp+ shifter. Final gearing is 3. 00:1 and braking is manual 4-wheel drums. Autobarnclassiccars. Com for additional information. Bucket Seats✔ AM/FM

And when it's ultra-rare and ultra-cool like this 1963 ford falcon futura sprint convertible, then it's time to take a much closer look. This is a falcon for those who like a hint of aggressive nature. The factory-correct rangoon red paint has been resprayed with a very professional hand. It gives the car a deep, glossy appearance that really makes it standout in all the best ways. In fact, this one catches all the attention simply because its so well presented. This is due to a full restoration that took the convertible all the way down to naked bare metal. That's why the panels look so strait, and the doors shut with confidence. Plus the top-of-the-line sprint has plenty of bright trim, all of which was replaced during restoration if it didn't meet exacting standards. That's why everything shines like a mirror, and the full-length arrowhead side accent lines up so nicely. Beneath the power folding roof is a great matching red interior that's complete right down to the red convertible boot cover. The overall effect is a classic uniform feeling that gives this falcon an upscale look that always attracts attention. Everything from the bucket seats to the heat/defrost controls looks factory fresh from 1963. The intricate door panels recall just a touch of the 1950s with their shiny materials and lots of polished trim. The familiar instrument panel is in excellent condition. Those who know sprints will be happy to see the center-mounted tach, a key factory feature. Stuffing a 260 cubic inch v8 in a lightweight car works really well... Just look at what it did for carroll shelby. This v8 received plenty of attention from the restoration, which means the numbers-matching powerplant was expertly rebuilt. So beyond the flashy valve coves and air cleaner lies the heart of a reliable champion. In fact, it's not just the motor that was restored. Take a look at the undercarriage shots. So don't think too long on this one because it might be hard to find the rarest falcon of them all in such great condition ever again. Bucket Seats

Affordable honesty never looks this good anymore. This 1963 ford falcon seems to buck the trend of overblown v8s, and in the process, this coupe is a true representation of the practical driver in the '60s. Back in the day this was the kind of car that didn't get much of a glance, but now people will marvel at how well preserved it is. The first step to getting noticed is a very careful restoration that includes paintwork that's a more modern and shiny application, but it stays close to this falcon's original turquoise. It adds some brightness to the coupe body that's highlighted by the wide grille, wider bumpers, long side trim, and factory hub caps. It's just the right amount of brightwork to really make these little cruiser look special. Inside, the gold interior with comfortable gold weave insert is a great color for representing the '60s. The front bench seat is something that would have been replaced on a restomod, but that wouldn't be right on this one. Instead, it is a near perfect time machine going back to the days when the entire family would have rather sat in the front than had the open road obscured from the back seat. Just like any good 1960's car, this sea of gold has coordinating hues across the door panels, dash, and steering wheel. All of this feels very original right down to the heater controls. The inline-six motor has the kind of honest appearance that people love at car shows these days. Brightened up with a fresh coat of ford blue paint on the block and air cleaner, this one will attract more attention than the chrome v8s in the show field. But this falcon isn't being completely honest. So this lightweight falcon has a nice amount of extra spring in its step going down the road. We were very plesently surprised at how peppy it is (even better than some v8's!). After all, at this affordable price, it could be headed to a movie studio any day now. Stk. 2193 1965 ford falcon futura this 1965 futura 2-door hardtop is considered a 2nd generation falcon. The original version, introduced in 1960, was a success story for ford. It included the futura option, introduced in 1961, as a sport version. Ford even used the 'peanuts' characters in their advertising campaigns. This partially restored 1965 futura is a very nice example of this mid-60's classic. The factory white m-code exterior was reshot in 2009 with what appears to be falcon's k-code silver smoke gray. Blue accents, tinted windows, factory hub caps/rings and narrow whitewalls complete the period-correct look. The fully restored blue vinyl interior, including a new carpet package, appears very original right down to the am radio. The factory 'mileage maker six was replaced with a new 170ci crate motor. It is coupled to a cruise-o-matic 3-speed automatic transmission. Brakes are 4-wheel standard drum units. This is a very nice, very affordable blue oval classic that is fun to drive. The 1965 falcon is a difficult car to find. The ford mustang production was in full swing by the time this car came around. Consequently, ford only sold 25,754 premium futura hardtop coupes that year... Or basically 1 for every 16 mustang coupes sold that year. These second-generation falcons seemed to strike a nice balance between american flair and european sensibilities, and the iconic wimbledon white paint represents this perfectly. It earns the iconic english name with crisp sheetmetal in the pristine and proper color – like a pinpoint oxford shirt. There's just something about a factory-correct well-maintained red interior that we love. The seats, carpeting, door panel, and dash have all received the correct level of care and restoration. The whole package looks great with original elements like the am radio and heat/defrost control blending nicely with newer items like the full auxiliary gauge set. While we've been making plenty of mustang comparisons to this falcon, the easiest one is under the hood. The c-code 289 cubic-inch v8 is the same motor that made ford's pony car famous. It looks great in this falcon with the chrome air cleaner and aluminum valve covers against a fantastically tidy presentation. More than just show and go, this coupe has invested in good fundamentals like an aluminum radiator and newer stainless dual exhaust for plenty of worry-free miles to come. Plus, there have been investments in items like new control arms, modern tires, and other items to make this a great vintage road machine. Unique, powerful, and fantastically presented, this ford falcon futura even comes with the original warranty card and owner's manual.

It's especially true when the economy car roots are erased on the top of the line falcon trim. All of this shows exceptionally well on a modern interpretation of the original heritage burgundy color. The factory could never get this much gloss on the car... A black vinyl bucket seat interior is the perfect way to continue the sporty and premium feeling this falcon sprint gives off. The ribbed seat covers look fresh and flank a correct center console with bright lid. Gorgeous door panels recall just a touch of the earlier 1950s with their shiny materials and lots of polished trim. The adapted and upgraded mustang-style wooden steering wheel is a nice reminder who the daddy of the pony car was. Beyond that is a familiar instrument panel that's in excellent condition. The center-mounted tachometer was part of the factory sprint package, but the auxiliary readouts are a very nice and necessary upgrade. But the best upgrades are a little more subtle. But the best upgrade is saved for under the hood. The engine is the same 260 cubic-inch v8 that found a home in the early mustangs, and this one has been dressed for show duty. All of this extra power makes a nice tone out of the dual exhaust. Plus, on the road, the lightweight body and enhanced power moves this coupe in a hurry. Who knew true distinction could be this affordable?! Tachometer✔ AM/FM
