The burgundy leather interior is a great complementing standout color to the bright white exterior. It appears to be original, and it still matches nicely on the seats, carpets, and dash. The burled walnut veneer is some of the most handsome trim for any car in the 80s, and as expected with such an expensive convertible, it came loaded. This one has power seats, power windows, tilt wheel, cruise control, the original am/fm/cassette stereo, provisions for air conditioning, and a power convertible top. Under the hood is the optional 307 cubic inch v8. It looks so honest that we believe the mileage is correct, and we suspect the powerplant is original to this car. With a professional repaint, the deep luster highlights everything from extended fenders to the coke bottle sides. Fit and finish are good, showing careful workmanship when the time came to bolt it back together. Brightwork was applied more sparingly than its 1960s contemporaries, so it was used as an accent piece in places like the delicate wrap-around bumpers, cool bombsight hood ornament, decorative intakes on the quarter panels, and factory wire wheels. Everyone gets an individual bucket seat. Yes, there's a center console not only for the front, but even the rear passengers get a stylized separation. Just like the exterior, the brightwork is used for accenting instead of overwhelming, so the instrument panel is a fantastic display of elegant restraint. With a car this special so far, it's great to see the original, numbers-matching v8 under the hood. Buick knew that effortless performance was the key to the riviera's success, so they made sure that there was plenty of torque on tap to move all that sheetmetal with ease. With 425 cubic inches and an advertised 465 pounds of torque (that's the '465' in wildcat 465,) it gave this personal luxury car the ability to humble some pretty serious machinery out on the streets. The engine bay is clean and shows signs of life-long maintenance, so it's great for both showing and driving. It's linked to buick's unique superturbine 400 three-speed automatic, and we have a receipt that it was rebuilt in 1997 to keep everything shifting smoothly – even though this coupe has only averaged an ultra-low 1,150 miles annually anyway.
