This 1930 ford pickup is the perfect mix of a hot rod, and a cool cruiser. After all, beneath the steel bodywork is a more modern suspension, v8 heart, and a nice rumble from the dual exhaust. The great steel body has that great upright original silhouette that will make people immediately recognize this for a '30s-style henry ford cruiser. And the metal standard oil sign on each door just reinforces this is a very cool old-style pickup. But this pure 1930s feeling lasts only for a moment. The full matte black paint (even over the bumpers), red grille, and racing disc hubcaps are all big indicators that this has some hot rod aggression. The result is a very cool mix of old and new worlds that represents all the best of the classic car culture. These pure vintage and hot rod feelings that the pickup produces is best seen in the truck bed. The wood side slats and floor are great period-correct pieces, but the bright aluminum gas tank is defiantly reserved for something more custom. Inside the updates continue. The new two-tone brown leather is a great upgrade for the interior, but special attention was paid to keep some of the original appearance. For example, the seat keeps the low-back single bench setup of a '30s pickup. But now it has individual seating areas and integrated headrests to give it long-haul comfort. The custom chrome steering wheel on the bright tilt column is pure hot rod cool. Under the hood is double the number of cylinders, and a whole lot more displacement than what came in a factory model a. Not only does the chevy orange look great radiating power from the 305 cubic-inch block, but also this more modern motor has been built for comfort and performance. But this is far from a brute. The electric water pump, aluminum radiator, and electric fan are the kind of reliable modern components that keep this classic running easy. Plus, the front suspension has been upgraded to a mustang ii-style independent unit with front disc brakes. Add in rack & pinion steering, new shocks & springs, and a th350 three-speed automatic transmission, and the very vintage ford is a great anytime decision. This truck creates a stir wherever it goes, and it has been built to go everywhere with ease. Leather Seats

But since these advance design classic trucks are red hot tight now, it is also the perfect candidate for any build, from a factory original, to hot rod. Chevrolet's advanced design pickups one of the best looking old-school haulers around, and they are absolutely iconic. After all, anytime some has a mental image of going to an old school farm, one of these tough icons is in the background. And this one is painted red like a country barn. Plus, there are some great details. The black bumpers, grille, and side steps almost create a cool two-tone effect, and the whitewall tires with chevrolet hub caps are a great '50s touch. Plus, the wood bed has been replaced with steel, so this classic is ready for chore duty. Inside, the red and black theme continues in an almost time machine like presentation. Pickups from the 1950s didn't come adorned with a long feature list, and that actually adds to this 3100's charm. This one carries a period-correct 216 cubic-inch inline-six, but those who know these chevys instantly can see this one is extra special. The fined tops of the head cover, intake, and carbs give this a sporty appearance. While this has a dual exhaust like a muscle car, it only serves to amplify the fantastic old truck exhaust note that chugs along like a freight train. For that added touch of period-correct fun, the motor is mated to a smooth shifting, three-speed column shift manual transmission. Cloth Interior

These include the tubular front bumper w/integrated guard, full roll cage, tough 15-inch wheels, and the rear tubu. The shade of red is bold enough that it could have just as easily been used for a hot rod. 1923 ford model t - concord, ncstreetside classicsconcord, nc 28027ph: 8665428392web: www. Carsforsale. Com/used_cars_for_sale/dealerinventory. We all love how the origins of the hot rod movement were about taking the upright proportions of the model-t and adding muscle machine flair. The way the big v8 is open to the world, the suspension is improved and lowered, the stance aggressively leans forward, and the cab is pushed way back on the frame – it's all needed to make sure this timeless package has everlasting appeal. And while this one has all the fundamentals right, there are also some great standout features, too. The positioning of the front shock towers, diamond plating on the firewall, classic wire wheels, and the rear chassis painted to match the tan body all make this a distinctive take on the iconic t-bucket. But utility doesn't mean missing out on style. The tan interior is in a complementing shade to the exterior, which is nice for a vehicle that is built to be open to the world. Plus, the pattern on the seats neatly wraps around the whole sides for a true uniform feeling. The wood dash adds some nice color, and houses all the essential gauges. There's even a folding roof with the rear window shaped like a t to remind everyone this is a t-bucket. Big block power is great. Then again, everyone will be attracted to this motor thanks to performance features like the edelbrock performer intake and sanderson long tube headers that connect to those wicked side pipes. A stout ford 9-inch diff, large bf goodrich tires, adjustable coil springs in the front, and a five-link rear keep everything feeling good on the road. AM/FM

Looking like pure horsepower on wheels, this 1927 ford roadster has a performance zz4 v8, thundering side pipes, and wheelie bars in the back. The bright red paint radiates confidence from the cool roadster curves. This classic is built to have a very modern and aggressive appearance. Instead, the brightwork is reserved to draw attention to some of the best performance pieces like the side exhaust, huge rear weld racing wheels, and the competition engineering wheelie bars. So while we all respect this ford's iconic silhouette, we also all can instantly see this is a very custom speedy machine. The black removable top looks great complementing the blacked-out grille, but really this hot rod was meant to be open to the world. The reason why those high-performance pipes are always on display for the world to see is because they are connected to a high-performance motor. The zz4 crate v8 is the kind of application that reliably delivers big power from chevy's trustworthy 350 cubic-inch small block. Plus, the wilwood front disc brakes are there for superior control. A full performance build like this gets attention wherever it goes. We'll even keep the secret about how affordable it all was. AM/FM

Plymouth Valiant - don't think so. Ford Fiesta - probably not. Chevrolet Metro/Sprint - yes, perfect. The Sprint was an econo-box offered by GM back in the '80s. Back then, it was powered by a three-cylinder engine - not exactly a boulevard cruiser. This 1988 Sprint was professionally reconstructed from the ground up in 2007. Fatman Fabrications, Charlotte NC, built a custom square-tube street rod frame that incorporated the unitized body. They used Macpherson strut front suspension and Nissan truck brakes. The differential is a narrowed Ford 9 with Detroit Truetrac and 2:50:1 gearing. The engine is an all-aluminum, twin turbo 402ci dry-sump small-block built by Duttweller Performance, Ventura CA. Only the best components were used: Brodix block/heads, Comp roller-cam, forged crank/rods, CP pistons, twin Precision Turbos and Big Stuff3 EFI. This engine dynoed at 954 BHP on pump gas. The transmission is a GM TH350. This is a one-off monster and it's street-legal. Every aspect of the build is fully documented (including dyno sheets). Back in October 2013, Hot Rod Magazine published a nice piece on this Sprint in the Wrenchin'@Random section. They were impressed. This little Chevrolet needs to be seen to be truly appreciated. It is an engineering marvel. autobarnclassiccars.com for additional information. Bucket Seats

1956 Ford F-100 - Concord, NCStreetside ClassicsConcord, NC 28027Ph: 8665428392Web: www. carsforsale.com/used_cars_for_sale/dealerinventory. This 1956 Ford F-100 has both and much more. The Ford F-100 is arguably the best-looking post-war pickup, and 1956 tends to be the favorite year. Also, this was the first year for the wraparound windshield. Plus, it wouldn't be a cool vintage pickup without a real wood truck bed, whitewalls, and steelie wheels with bright factory covers. In fact, this one is such a standout that Wayne Carini of the show Chasing Classic Cars was a proud former owner of this pickup. While the exterior gives few hints to the hot rod lifestyle, the custom interior is a bit more obvious. It starts with the aggressive red that looks like hot lava when viewed through the exterior black paint. The bench seat is vastly more comfortable than anything that came out of the '50s. It has been upgraded to a later modern comfortable cloth setup that now includes a fold-down armrest for individual comfort. The engine bay does a great job of uniting this truck's color scheme and looking aggressive, too. This is the kind of classic that will draw in a crowd all on its own... AM/FM✔ Cloth Interior
